Optical First Data Archiving
DakotaVault integrates an advanced software application in combination with Optical Jukeboxes and RAID storage to provide a complete, compliant solution for the most demanding applications. Unlike "traditional" optical library solutions, which migrate old data off of magnetic storage, "Optical First" technology is designed so that the entire data archive is placed first onto the optical media, assuring that all required compliance issues are satisfied. Optical First's unique architecture features "Controlled Migration" of data from the optical jukebox to magnetic storage, providing network clients with fast access to archived data.

Data Management
High performance Jukebox Manager software offers transparent drive letter access to CD/DVDs in readers, changers, jukeboxes or as images on hard disk via the Windows File System. Seamless integration into the Windows Server 2003 kernel ensures support for all Windows Server 2003 supported network clients. Windows Server 2003 enhanced security and permission control is also active in the shared Jukebox Manager file system. DakotaVault provides centralized management of your CD/DVD libraries and archived data.

Compliant Storage Target
DakotaVault's unique "Volume Sets" architecture allows a complete optical library to be logically partitioned and shared as a storage target, exactly the way you would with a magnetic storage device. This assures compatibility with any Data Archive, Asset Management, or Information Lifecycle Management (ILM) applications that work with standard Windows shares.

Flexible Data Recording
DakotaVault enables you to record and duplicate data CD/DVDs and audio CDs and supports parallel recording of multiple CD/DVDs. The Event Controlled Recording (ECR) feature provides flexible, automatic, parameter-based CD/DVD recording.

Mixed Media Support
DakotaVault supports a wide range of optical storage media such as CD-ROM, CD-R, DVD-ROM, DVD-R, DVD-RAM and UDO in tower/rack and jukebox configurations, as well as high performance Serial ATA RAID.

Jukebox Support
DakotaVault Archive Appliances are available as full turnkey solutions or as NAS engines pre-configured to support CD/DVD/UDO jukeboxes from ASACA, Cygnet, DISC (NSM), HP, JVC, Kodak, Kubota, Pioneer, Plasmon, Powerfile, and Sony.
